Capcom’s ‘Street Fighter V’ gets second beta test this month, is not kind to PC gamers

Fighting has been an instinct born into man since the beginning of time. It wasn’t until much more recently that we have celebrated this age-old activity by making games of it that we can play without actually causing harm to one another. A famous series that accomplishes this is the Street Fighter series; the first of which was released in 1987 and the newest addition is in production by Capcom. Street Fighter V has seen one beta test already with another just announced by the developers.

Early Access Preview: The Flame in the Flood

Of all the predictions of trends I thought I'd see in gaming, never did I think "pretty post-apocalypse" would be an up-and-coming genre. Mind you, I'm not complaining; I'm actually pleasantly surprised. The Flame in the Flood, made by The Molasses Flood, has you in the rain slickers of a lone female protagonist trying to survive as she makes her way down a massive river formed by--you guessed it--a flood.

Germans over the course of history have invented some pretty neat things: airbags, beer, gummi bears, the MP3, and ShamWoW, to name a few. However, there are few video games that come from good old Deutschland (at least that I can name), but Hamburg-based Overhype Studios seeks to challenge that.

Early Access Preview: ‘Rebuild 3: Gangs of Deadsville’

Before FarmVille and Candy Crush Saga were even things, there were the virtual arcades of yesteryear that stole many an hour of my (adolescent) youth. I’m sure there are many of you who know of domains whose names are long-forgotten, though evoked with such a reverence that not only 90s kids remember, but arguably all true gamers with a stable Internet connection: EBaum’s WorldKongregateNewgrounds, and Armor Games, to name but a few. However, it is within Kongregate that our tale begins, like so many others of this millenium: you and a group of survivors must Rebuild society amid a zombie apocalypse.

Early Access Preview: ‘The Long Dark’

A year and some change ago, I wrote with great enthusiasm about an upcoming Kickstarter project from Hinterland, a new independent video game developer with a star-studded roster. That video game is none other than The Long Dark, a post-apocalyptic survival game that has you making a stand against the frigid elements of the Canadian Northwest. Since its Early Access release on Steam this past September, I've finally had the chance to try my hand at eeking out a miserable existence. With the full release still being a ways off, I'm curious to see how the game progresses development, but so far so good.

Early Access Preview: NEO Scavenger

There seems to be a lot of survival games out lately, though rightly so. I mean, that is the most base of all human extincts. There's something about pitting oneself against nature to truly test one's mettle. However, throw yourself in a cryotank for who knows how long only to wake up in a world that's all but destroyed and running rampant with marauders and mutant dogmen and survivalism becomes less a hobby and more a necessity.
