Andy Schuette has been gaming ever since he could hold a SNES controller in his hands and has been loving every minute of it. He's the funniest guy he knows, and the least funny guy everyone else knows.
No, Cloud will not be joining a fraternity and growing out his man-bun. He will be the latest addition to Super Smash Bros for Wii U and Super Smash Bros for 3DS. During Nintendo‘s streaming event titled “Nintendo Direct” they announced that Cloud will be coming to join the fight in their popular arena battle game series.
Final Fantasy fans can rejoice in the news of seeing their character joining a new game. While Cloud is not a Nintendo character himself, he has become somewhat of a poster child for the popular series of Final Fantasy games, and Nintendo saw an opportunity to bring him in, along with his adoring fans.
Cloud will be joining the cast of Super Smash Bros characters that are not from games in Nintendo’s library; other notable characters in the same boat are Megaman, Pac-Man, and Ryu of Street Fighter fame.
As fans chomp at the bit for the remake of Final Fantasy VII, they can get some practice with an updated Cloud character in Super Smash Bros. It’s not quite the same as watching him dueling Sephiroth, but it’ll certainly be something to watch Cloud matched up against SSB‘s eclectic roster of opponents.
Cloud will be available as the newest paid DLC fighter in the game which also includes Midgar as a playable stage.
In case you don’t want to watch the entire 45 minute presentation from Nintendo but still want to see some sample gameplay of Cloud in battle, we already did the fast forwarding:
The date that Cloud can run into battle has not yet been announced, so we will have to wait a bit longer for that. When he is finally uncaged, we can get back into the swing of things with that beautifully over-sized sword of his.
