‘Mortal Kombat XL’ announced

Calling all Kombatants: it’s time to step back into the arena! On Wednesday, NetherRealm Studios revealed the next iteration of their bone-breaking fighter, Mortal Kombat XL, along with their second DLC Kombat Pack. If you weren’t able to get your greasy mitts on all the original DLC characters and skins, now’s your chance! Kombat Pack 2 will bring four new characters to the fight: Alien’s Xenomorph, Triborg (a combination of the Kombat universe’s cyborg characters), Texas Chainsaw Massacre’s Leatherface, and Bo Rai Cho, the drunken martial arts master along with several new character skins.

The full game and Kombat Pack 2 will release in North America for PS4 and Xbox One on March 1.  The whole deal will cost about $60 and include the base game, plus Kombat Pack 1 and 2 (you can also buy these together for $25 if you already own the base game). It’s unclear why we’re not seeing support for PC users; whether Warner Bros. plans to release to Windows later on or are simply ending support altogether is unknown, and could mean an unfortunate snub for the format.

Either way, NetherRealm is adding some needed longevity to their game. I, for one, am pretty pumped to shred some bodies as the Xenomorph. Check out the launch trailer below:
